There’s an index card on my fridge that says “There is no bear.”
This was a phrase I found in a parenting book to help people remember that even when their kids are acting up and testing their very last nerve, there is no imminent danger. Even when our bodies might respond like there is — heart pumping, shallow breathing, sweaty palms — we’re not about to be mauled.
Uncertainty is its own kind of threat. When it comes to our careers, not knowing where to head next can feel just as scary as coming face-to-face with a grizzly. But it doesn’t have to feel this way.
This week for our Career River Community Call, I’ll be hosting a Q&A on the certainty cycle.
How can we move from fear to discovery? And how does that change the way we think about periods of uncertainty during our professional journeys?
Each month I host a webinar for newsletter supporting subscribers to share what I’ve been learning about exploring careers and invite your questions. We get together on the third Wednesday at noon ET/9 a.m. PT. This month’s call will be this Wednesday, June 18.
Supporting subscribers, register below for this week’s call. Join anytime you can! I’ll record my talking points for registrants, but the Q&A discussion will not be recorded.
(Psst: Not a supporting subscriber? Check out all the perks you get for $5 a month, plus a special subscription offer, here. Join today and get your Community Call invite!)
